The Church in Cuba
Cuba is in a deep economic crisis. Even so, the church in Cuba is growing. The Overseas Initiative (TOI) stands with Cuban churches as they serve their own neighbors.
TOI is a 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit in Birmingham, Alabama. Cubans lead the work, and our board covers all overhead.
Pray for Cuba with usThere is something unique about the way the Cuban Church continues to worship, serve, and share the Gospel despite the challenges around it. Christianity in Cuba is growing, and TOI’s missions work there is led by Cuban Christians.
We believe the Cuban Church is strong, faithful, and uniquely equipped to serve its own communities. Our role is not to come in and do ministry for them, but to come alongside them: to encourage, equip, and support the work God is already doing through the local church.
There really is something different and special about Cuba. We believe it is the people: their faith, their resilience, their generosity, and their love for Christ.

TOI's Executive Director receives no compensation.
TOI's American staff is one part-time employee.
Our Board funds all overhead expenses.

The Overseas Initiative is a 501(c)(3), EIN 92-0668947. We receive no government funding, and TOI complies with all OFAC regulations.
Give nowOur main concern is our Cuban team. An American group on the ground puts a spotlight on them, and right now that spotlight endangers them more than anything else. So the work goes on through them.

Church members train for eight weeks, then Cuban trustees approve seed funds that are paid forward to the next business.
We also hold seminars and conferences for pastors and church leaders.
