When considering all the blessings The Overseas Initiative has experienced, humility and a sense of community are two emotions that overflow from the TOI team. We are grateful for so many individuals and organizations who have supported the ministry and equipped us for opportunities we would not have without them.
First, we are grateful for Christian Service Mission (CSM) here in Birmingham. CSM has frequently provided vitamins, therapy tools, and medical devices for us to bring with us to Cuba. In addition, they have designated an area of their warehouse just for Cuba supplies, leading their volunteers to ask about TOI and what we are doing. How kind they are to create grassroots opportunities to discuss who we are and why we exist!
Next, we want to thank John Abernathy for his consistent care for the Cuban citizens. Not only did John provide the second phase of our microfinance ministry, but he also continues to support and advise our microfinance candidates. We are encouraged by his support of TOI and know that he is an integral part of our ministry.
In addition, we want to thank Dr. Marsha Wakefield for sponsoring the purchase of many needed medical supplies for the Cuban hospitals, including mobility devices, triage supplies, and vitamins/minerals. We are grateful for her kindness and her heart for the Cuban people!
Many thanks to these individuals and so many more. When we reflect on the growth of the ministry this past year, we recognize that without others, we would not be where we are today. When we consider the joy of the Cuban people when they receive these blessings, we know it’s not TOI who provides. It’s the Lord working through the Body of Christ. All glory to Him!
