Glory to God!
This month has been a great blessing for the churches in Cuba and for the neediest members of the island community. Thanks to the contributions of all TOI donors, the team was able to bring a large amount of donations on its last trip, including food, medical supplies, and personal hygiene items. These are the most basic and urgent material needs of the Cuban people in these times. Several local ministries and churches acted as intermediaries to deliver this long-awaited aid to the families most in need.
We contacted a ministry called Hands Through Glass . This group is responsible for bringing aid to children with cancer in the restricted area of the Santa Clara City Children's Hospital. As its name indicates, it is an area only accessible to qualified medical personnel. However, a group of believers, filled with passion for the Lord and His work, are taking all required hygiene measures and delivering food, medicine, clothing, and other basic necessities to the care rooms. Through them, we delivered a good amount of soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, pajamas, Legos, and some candy to children who have spent their entire short lives isolated in a hospital room--children with unfavorable diagnoses whose treatment becomes more difficult every day due to the nationwide shortage of medications. Their fundamental mission is to pray and preach the gospel to children and their parents. We ask that you pray for these little ones and that the Lord will open more doors to continue blessing more children like them.
We also supported Love in Action, which is made up mostly of senior citizens. These brothers and sisters are dedicated to bringing the good news of salvation to other seniors, as well as helping with food and medicine.
On another note, we're beginning the distribution of loans to entrepreneurs approved for TOI's Microfinance Project. These young people will be experiencing a busy and challenging few weeks starting their businesses, so we also ask for prayer for them and their assigned mentors; may the Lord grant them wisdom in their endeavors.
We are preparing our next trip to the island. Please pray that we may be as effective as possible in our mission. May our God prepare the way and open doors to reach anyone who needs a word of encouragement or a helping hand amid the current crisis our brothers and sisters in Cuba are experiencing. Many blessings, and as always, the TOI team deeply appreciates all your help and care for the ministry.
