With the recent hurricanes, earthquakes, and blackouts plaguing the country of Cuba, this fall seems not to be the right time for Americans to visit the country and minister to its people. However, the Cuban people are in need of encouragement, love, and support now especially. In October, seven American men traveled to Cuba to partner with the local church bodies to evangelize within the cities and villages surrounding Santa Clara. Individuals from Mississippi, Birmingham, and Auburn, Alabama traveled together and, under the leadership and direction of the Cuban churches, evangelized to over sixty-four families. There were five confirmed salvations, and the Cuban churches will be following up with converts as well as those spoken to but non-converted.
Our men were affected by the blackouts just like the rest of the country, leading to limited sleep and modified dining plans. However, they each returned to the States truly joyful and inspired by the Cuban people. I can't stress enough how life-changing a trip to Cuba is. If you want to be humbled, driven closer to your Savior, and gain a greater love for your Christian brothers and sisters, join TOI on a trip to Cuba!
